May they rest in peace.
should have followed the trend of seeking shelter in an OPEN STADIUM lmao.
I'm sorry these people died during the past two days but most of these deaths have nothing to do with the fire.

wow. people have no tact. there is nowhere else for these people to go. grow up!
The fires greatly increase the local air pollution levels. High levels of air pollution are known to trigger respiratory distress and fatal heart attacks.
It sounds like the stress of evacuation plus the bad air might have been enough to end some of these lives. May they rest in peace.
I am sure the fire/smoke/movement was a mitigating factor.
Excellent job on this blog; as a recently departed San Diego resident, I appreciate the updates online. I can continually check the updates without clogging the phone lines.
I believe these deaths are important to report, but later on I don't think they can be counted against the city and county's response to the fires. A lot of deaths have been probably been prevented by the early evacs.

Also Mrs. James Boyer died last night as well from fallbrook.
I think only one of these deaths is due directly to the fire. It would be nice if I could quit hearing how much worst this is than the Cedar fire. I think it is too soon to tell. I lost my home in the Cedar fire and we are again in harms way. I am sure my husband will stay behind and try to save our new home this time around we have been in since March. I just hope there will be no more deaths directly related to the fire.
It is sobering to read about those that lost lives during the fires, while clueless politicains like Garamendi are going on television and telling President Bush not to come to California or bring aid, because of the War in Iraq. We need politicans with maturity, compassion and dedication to the Californians that are allegedly serving, not divisive extremists like Garamendi!
Shame on Garamendi for trying to turn this tragedy into a political issue. Maybe Garamendi should not be in California at all. We don't need a divisive politican like Garamendi in San Diego County.
We need responsible public servants willing to pull together to get through this. Shame on Whoopi Goldberg and those on "The View" for backing Garamendi and rebuking San Diego's need for federal help, because of President Bush and the Iraqi War. This isn't about the war!!! This is about a tragedy! This is about California!
The San Diego Fires have absolutely nothing to do with the Iraqi War or President Bush. Shame on you Mr. Garamendi! You are an embarassment to the Democratic Party and to all Californians! Your extremist views certainly do not represent a grieving California!
Shame on You Mr. Garamendi and Whoopi Goldberg!!!! We need help not your selfish, extremist politics that blame Bush and the war for our California fires! Give me a break!!!
I heard a female firefighter died on Monday at UCSD, yet I haven't read anything about that. Anyone know?
